Welcome to "The Shadow of the Bear" movie blog!

We are an independant young adult-run production based in the U.S. Midwest. The film has been in pre-production since summer 2008, and wrapped up filming on August 26th, 2010.

We premiered the project on June 23rd, 2011 at the St. Anthony Main Theater in Minneapolis, MN to a delighted audience of over 100 viewers.

T-Shirt Printer?

As I mentioned in my last post, I am looking at having some t-shirts printed with SOTB pictures to use as a fundraiser for the film. However there are so many websites out there offering printing services, I have no idea where to find the best deal, quality, or even which sites are really legit.

Have any of you worked with a company that you would be able to recommend?

First screencap

Photobucket

Actually got into the nitty-grittyness of editing tonight! It takes forever just to edit a minute of film... you wouldn't believe it! However I also got some screencaptures, and present the first one for your viewing pleasure! Please note that none of the footage has been color corrected yet. :)

Also, we're looking into buying a harddrive. I'm hoping to have some T-Shirts for sale soon, and all profits from those would go into purchasing what we need to finish up the film. So keep that in mind! :)

Editing Again!

Oh my... it feels so good to be back at the editor's desk! After over half a year of being unable to do anything, we are finally back at work!

Just two of us this time - Eric (one of our main cinematographers) and myself (well, and his little brothers popping in to watch from time to time). We went through the raw footage for

- Fish and Bear and the Opera Tickets (a scene from the Radio Drama)
- Rob and Bear fight/Bear and Blanche and Poetry
- Rob and friends smoke
- Freet's Basement (most of it)

Out of all this we picked the best takes, which turned out to be about 50 minutes or so. This will be cut way down - probably to a quarter of that for the actual film. We also pulled out the bloopers. There are some hilarious ones in there...

All of this took about three hours, and I felt we got a lot done.

It was a pretty intense session. At least, the last part. The footage from Freet's basement is really... yeah, I'm going to go with the word "intense" again.

Intense is good though. And once again I was just bowled over by the amazing actors we have on this project. I feel like I'm watching the book characters really walking and talking and doing their stuff... and it's awesome.

For those of you who have asked, we are editing on a program called VEGAS. :)
