This is part of an effort to raise awareness about the project. Like anything else connected to the FT-Novels, word of mouth is our biggest tool!

Day 6 - More pictures!

Rose in costume

Phil with the difuser

Phil and Andy being crazy

Eric in dramatic lighting

Setting up a shot

Fish and Rose

Answers to Questions from Day 6

I'll try and answer some of these...

Anonymous - overkill? No, it's a foreshadowing for Waking Rose.

Titania - I am Elizabeth. ;)

Phoenix - Yes, we will have pictures of Mr. Freet up very soon. Just a matter of getting them from the photographers. How far are we? Um, I think we said something along 15 minutes or so? I won't know until we cut the footage together.

Rien Takid - Thank you! My brother and sister developed the blood, which is a mixture of corn syrup and food coloring. And my sister worked out some combination of regular make-up to create the bruises.

Angel Horses - What was I doing tied up. Um...Phil (our lighting director and other things) randomly tied me up and was like...*try and get out*...which I did pretty quickly because I love knots. It was just a random thing while we were waiting for Anthony to get back from doing something...can't remember what that was.

Vicki - we shot Rose and Fish's parts alone in the cellar on the first day, and the part where Mr. Freet arrives on the second day.

TooShea Films - I hope to. We'll see when we can edit next.

Anonymous - Well considering that the scene is already filmed, I don't know how we can make it dirtier. FYI the whole shoot came together incredibly fast and we had about a half an hour to distress the shirt while doing fifty bajillion other things. I think it wore down as we filmed though, so maybe you'll like the later pictures better.

To everyone else...I'm so glad you all are so pleased with this! Your enthusiasim is a huge encouragement to us all!

Day 6 - May 12th 2009

Elizabeth: So...Elizabeth and Anthony here with the latest report from the SOTB film set.

Anthony: Good afternoon all you SOTB fans. I think you will be glad to hear that we filmed the scene...

Elizabeth:...of Fish and Rose in Freet's basement. It was a blast.

Anthony: It was indeed a blast. It was very fun.

Elizabeth: Starting with the makeup..

Anthony: This was like half of the fun, with the blood and bruises and cuts and of course tearing up the shirt...

Elizabeth: Blood! Guts! Gore!

Anthony: Yes indeed Elizabeth. Blood, guts and gore.

Elizabeth: I got to be principle make-up artist. That was awesome.

(Elizabeth's hand on the spray bottle! ;) )

Elizabeth: and THEN we got to tie Anthony up!

Anthony: I've never been tied up before. It was painful, but unbelievably fun.

Elizabeth: And then we made you escape...8 times? 10 times? What was it?

Anthony: Oh I don't even know...but it was a lot.

Elizabeth: And then I got to escape...

Elizabeth: I wasn't too bad. Was I? Oh yeah...you weren't there then...

Anthony: No I wasn't. I was rescuing a girl with a bag over her head.

Elizabeth: *SHHHH!* We haven't filmed that yet!!!

Elizabeth: Oh and that last picture was when Sharayah was trying to get coffee from me...

Anthony: Ah yes. My beautiful counterpart. You must admit that that puppy dog face is quite convincing. I don't know what the heck mine is.

Elizabeth: Terrifying. And I don't know about convincing. Sharayah never got that coffee. She didn't need it.

Elizabeth: So we filmed about half or a third or something of that scene, and tonight we're going to do the rest.

Anthony: I'm excited and terrified.

Elizabeth: MR. FREET! But remember, Mr. Freet is nothing compared to Wolverine.

Anthony: ??? Wolverine is a good guy!

Elizabeth: NO! HE BEAT UP GAMBIT!!!!

Anthony: *laughs* He needed it.

Elizabeth: Grrrr. Ahem...*to fans* After filming last night the guys and I went to see "Wolverine." Which was awesome. And because our cinematographer, Eric, works at the theatre, he took us upstairs and I got to press the "start" button for the movie. That was super cool.

Anthony: It was AWESOME! You guys should all go and get a tour the projector booth of a theatre.

Elizabeth: Not at all what you think it is. We thought it would be cool to film a movie up there...

Anthony: It was amazing up there. Spooky and mysterious and cinematic all at the same time.

Elizabeth: Yeah. You wouldn't think a movie theatre would be cinematic, would you?

Find the Brier's Prom Dresses!!!

The Shadow of the Bear production crew would like to ask your assistance in tracking down the perfect prom dresses for Rose and Blanche Brier!

Who can enter?
Any fans who are dedicated enough to go searching!

How do I enter?

1. Read the descriptions of the dresses below.

2. Grab your wallet and go hunting around in thrift stores, garage sales, boutiques, wherever you can think! When you find a dress, make sure that it is returnable (unless you don't mind owning it if it isn't chosen) and bring it home!

3. Take a picture of the dress and e-mail it to theshadowofthebear@ymail.com

4. If your dress is chosen, we will give you a mailing address to ship it to.

UPDATE: The Tentative Deadline is May 30th.

The dresses must fit the colors and basic descriptions in the book. We can do some alterations, but the closer the dresses are to the descriptions, the better chance your dress will have of being chosen.

Blanche's dress should be between sizes 4 and 8.

Rose's dress should be between sizes 2 and 6.

The production has a limited fund. We'd like to spend no more than $15, preferably much less on each dress. Anything over this (including shipping) will need to be paid by the contestant.

The Grand Prize?

Two dresses, one for Rose and one for Blanche will obviously be featured in the film. The purchasers' names will appear in the credits under the costuming department for "Blanche's Prom Dress provided by" and "Rose's Prom Dress provided by"
Pictures of the dresses will be posted on this blog. Also, the winners will each recieve a copy of the DVD when it is released, signed by the cast and crew.

Runners up/Honorable mentions

Will get their finds displayed on this blog, and a special thanks will be given them on the movie credits (by name, if they wish). Although we cannot financially re-emburse them, if they are willing to cover the costs of shipping, we are more than willing to feature the dresses in the prom scene by having other actresses wear them.

Blanche's Dress

Blue-Green or teal
Bodice covered with sequins or beads (can be added by production if necessary)
Long full skirt
Chiffon petels overlaying the underskirt

Rose's Dress
Purple sequins or beads
Short skirt (just below the knee)

Questions? Suggestions? Let us know at theshadowofthebear@ymail.com

The hunt is on!
