When will the next film shoot be?

I've been hearing this question a lot, so I thought I ought to write a blog post explaing just what's up.

We never intended to do a lot of filming in January after the initial shoot. We had to do those four days all together because Jed was in town. Now he has gone back to college, and our Blanche and Rose are in school and in local theatre productions. From now until May we will only be filming about two days a month.

However there has been a slight delay in scheduling the next movie shoot due to a rather serious car accident I had on Monday. God kept me safe from any serious harm, but I did have some spinal cord damage and due to the stress and weakening of my immune system, have also gotten a virus. All this means that I'm weak and tired and have to spend a lot of time at the Chiropractor's office, which limits my ability to get back into scheduling right away.

There were however a LOT of blessings connected with the accident that seem to say very clearly that God still has a purpose for me down here on earth, and I think one of them is pretty obviously SOTB! Don't worry, we'll be back filming soon!

Editing Report Jan 6th '09

Last Tuesday I joined our editor, Phil, and our cinematographer, Eric, for our first round of official editing. We had a pretty nice set up, working with HD footage on Vegas and using two really nice computer screens.

First off we pulled together the trailer which I'm sure you've all seen by now. We discussed making it longer, but we really didn't have enough footage to do anything that would be satisfying. The teaser fulfills our purpose. At least, it has you all asking for more! Anyhow, that required planning out the titles, picking shots, color correcting them (Which I was really fussy about) and laying that down to music. It took us a couple of hours, believe it or not. And that's not including the additional time that Carpe (from the forum) and I spent working on the official logo. (The logo can now be seen at the end of the HD trailer)

The rest of the time was spent editing together the footage from Jan 2nd. That came out to about 1 and 1/2 minutes. The rest of the footage from Monday and Sunday should add another 4 and 1/2 minutes to bring that to a total of about six minutes out of the planned 120.

Our next shoot should be scheduled sometime in the next two or three weeks. For now, though, we're all taking a breather. Jed headed back to college today, Hannah and Sharayah went back to school last week, and I start classes on Tuesday. So life heads back to it's normal swing and we have to figure out how to work filming into that.
