NEWS and UPDATES
I've been blown away by the number of composer applications we've received! Now to sort through them and figure out who to use. Please pray for us!
Editingeditingediting... is never done. Last night I edited my second fight scene and it was crazy. Anthony's coming over tonight and I'm hoping for his input on all of my cuts. The footage is great, I just have to make sure it flows.
THE PREMIERE -- if you've been keeping an eye on the blurb on the top of the page, you've probably noticed that yesterday I changed the date to the "23rd" and the city to "Minneapolis." We are in negotiations with a theater in St. Anthony Main (which is a part of Minneapolis across the river from the Guthrie) and we hope to visit it and confirm everything next week. We could use prayers on this as well!
Getting the rights for "It's Only a Paper Moon" could be complicated and I frankly don't have the time to do it (I am still trying to figure out if I actually have time to breathe), so thoughts, expertise and offers of help from those who feel confident in this area would be greatly appreciate. Sounds cool and I hope everything goes well with the editing and music.
I do have a question though. I was wondering if there was a way to just go to the movie without signing up for ReginaCon because I can't go. I am hoping to go to Regina's signing at Rosedale but I can't make the Con.
Yes, you may absolutely come to the Premiere but not the Con!

Dear Director of Shadow of the Bear!!
Here is a link I found helpful about obtaining the rights to music: http://www.copyrightkids.org/permissioninformation.htm
Regina said on her site that Warner Brothers owns the rights to "It's only a paper moon" which was originally titled "IF you believed in me".
Do you have to be the one to get the rights since it's for your movie? Or could someone else obtain it for you if they had the necessary information?
Here is the customer service page on their site in order to contact them about this: http://www2.warnerbros.com/web/main/help/customer_service.jsp
(I just sent them this message:
"JMJ
Excuse me, but I know someone who has recently made a movie and would like to include
"It's only a paper moon"
(originally titled "If you believed in me") in the film's score -
the movie was made by a small-business-young-adult company so it's nothing like Disney or anything like that!
I understand that Warner Brothers currently holds the rights to that particular song and am wondering how we might obtain the rights to it for use in this film.
Thanks for your time. God bless!")
I'd be glad to help further if I can.
God bless you,
Laura
Laura --- could you send me a message at theshadowofthebear [at] ymail [dot] com? I will then put you in touch with my friend who is working on figuring out the rights. Thanks! :)
