WE NEED A CHURCH TO DOUBLE AS ST. LAWRENCE

Want to help us finish SOTB? Then help us find a church that will say "YES" to allowing us to film in their sanctuary!

We've contacted about five churches now that have all given us a firm "No."

Needless to say, this director is getting very discouraged.

However, YOU CAN HELP! If you, or someone you know goes to a traditional-looking Catholic church (or a church with a Catholic-looking interior) within an hour's drive of Minnapolis, would you please contact them and see whether they'd be open to a student production company filming three scenes for "The Shadow of the Bear" in their sanctuary? We would need about ten hours sometime between December 28th and 31st.

ALSO - because we're only doing interior scenes, a college chapel could possibly work as well! So those of you who are or have attended Catholic colleges in the Mpls/St.Paul area, go ahead and check into those as well!

We have referances availible upon request.

If you contact a church and recieve a postive answer, you can let us know through theshadowofthebear [at] ymail [dot] com.

We need this help desperately. The film cannot be completed without these scenes!

Praying 'Lena! I wish I could help you out... but I think I live a wee bit far away for that. ;) Feel like flying?

I have a question...
How big(approximately) should the sanctuary/church be? Thanks!

Keep up the good work with the movie! I am looking forward to it!

Good question. Medium sized, I guess. Not tiny, but not cathedral sized either!

I think central NY might be too far, even though I know a couple of pastors who would probably let you use their church. I really wish I could help. I'm super sorry about the whole distance issue, especially because i think I might have a couple pretty good candidates for a church.

Elena,

I know a church that I think would work well-I'll ask them ASAP.
However, since it's right after Christmas, we'll still have our Christmas decorations up. Is that okay, or would that not work for shooting? :-/

Praying for you!

Unfortunately I cannot make the phone call due to a huge number of necessary items on my to do list...Sorry.

But, have you checked into the old Historic Church St. Michael in St. Michael, MN. They do concerts and stuff there and I don't know if they even have Mass there anymore. It's old and very traditional looking, at least it was, I don't know if it has changed on the inside. The phone number for the new church is 763-497-2745.

Good luck

Addie - that sounds good! I think we could work around decorations.

RealMom4Life - thank you for the suggestion! Unfortunately, that was the last church that we contacted and recieved a negative reply at. But we agreed, it would have been a good filming location!

oh man! I would soooo help, but I'm pretty sure that Steubenville, OH is farther than you'd want. :-) I'll definitly be praying though. And I'm super glad you all are still working on it. :-D

Have you tried St. Marks? It is on the corner of Dayton and Marshall in St. Paul, and the interior of the upper church, I think, is to die for. Especially the Choir Loft.

I go to "tradition looking church" catholic church. I think that it might be too small though. My church seats about 200 people; that is too small right?
